TULSA, Okla. -
The superintendent of Epic Charter Schools has resigned. Bart Banfield has been with the school since 2014, taking over as superintendent in 2019.
Epic said its current deputy superintendent Justin Hunt will serve until a permanent replacement is hired.
Banfield's resignation comes less than a week after Epic announced it was laying off 357 employees, including more than 80 teachers.
Epic says the layoffs were needed for the school to remain financially stable.
